RUBEN FERNANDEZ

With 24 years' experience in journalism, Ruben heads the team from Sydney. Born in Uruguay, he taught biology and studied harp and medicine before migrating to Australia in 1978.

Once here, Ruben moved into the arts, concentrating on music, writing and journalism. He won the Walter Schaüble Gold Award for Excellence in Radio Broadcasting in 1988.

SORAYA CAICEDO

Soraya Caicedo was born in Colombia, where she studied Social Communications and Journalism and pursued post graduate studies in Marketing Management and Politics. She worked as a journalist in Colombia and migrated to Australia in 1999.

Soraya joined SBS Radio in 2004, specializing in Latin American news and current affairs, to keep her interest for socio-political issues alive.

JUAN MIRANDA

Born in Chile, Juan studied Accounting and Economics at the University of Santiago of Chile. He arrived in Australia in 1986.

In Australia, he Juan completed a BA in Communications at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), majoring in radio journalism and international politics. He then completed an Honours degree at UTS.

Juan lived in Sydney for 13 years and joined SBS radio Melbourne in 1999.

MARCIA DE LOS SANTOS

Marcia was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and migrated to Australia at the age of 11. Growing up in Australia, Marcia maintained a strong identity with her Latin-American culture. After graduating in Business from Victoria University she completed an Advanced Certificate in Media.

Marcia produced several radio and oral history documentaries for community radio, the National Ethnic & Multicultural Broadcasters Council and SBS.

CARLOS SANCHEZ

Carlos was born in Colombia, where he studied performing arts and medicine. He migrated to Australia in 1990 and joined SBS in 1995.

He specializes in news, health and cultural issues and successfully completed studies in Multicultural Journalism at Wollongong University in New South Wales. His main personal interest is the theatre, as an actor and director.
