DANNY YI

Danny Yi commenced working at SBS Radio in 1997. Prior to that, he had worked for other Australian radio stations as a program presenter. He migrated to Australia in 1989.

Danny has worked as an airline flight attendant, has appeared in television commercials and was a teacher of Chinese literature. He is a member of the Chinese Writers' Association of Sydney, and the Asian Media Council.

He also works in both government and commercial media productions as a translator, graphic designer and voice artist. He obtained a NAATI accreditation for professional translators (Level 3) and the position of Hollywood movie subtitler while he was studying for his Master of Arts degree at Macquarie University.

EP JASON FANG

Jason first joined SBS Radio in 1992. He worked at the BBC World Service in London during 1996 and 1997 and with Radio Australia from 1988 to 1991. He's also worked at China Central Television (CCTV ).

Jason was born in Beijing, and migrated to Australia in 1988. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Melbourne and Master of Business Administration from Monash University.

He is a qualified level 3 interpreter and translation in Mandarin and English (both directions). Jason also enjoys to teach at a Saturday Chinese school, to do voice-overs and to host major events.

MAY HU

May Hu J.P., who leads the broadcast team in Melbourne since 1992. May firstly joined SBS in 1991. She was appointed as Head of Mandarin in 1992. Prior to her appointment, May worked at the Ethnic Affairs Commission in Victoria. She is a professional interpreter and translator at NAATI Level 3. May is also a registered Chinese/Chemistry teacher and Cross Culture trainer.

May was born in Shanghai, China and migrated to Australia in 1988. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Translation/Interpreting from Deakin University, an Advanced Certificate in Media from Holmsglen TAFE and has a Graduate Certificate in Multicultural Journalism from University of Wollongong. May has Honor Master Degree in Communications and Media Studies at Monash University.

May Hu won an Australian National OPSO Media Award in Radio category in 2002. She also received the Award for Excellency in Multicultural Affairs in Media and Arts by the Victorian Multicultural Commission in 2006. May has been a prominent Master of Ceremony and event host in Australian Chinese community since early 1990s.

PHOEBE ALEXANDER

Phoebe has broad experience in several professional areas including journalism, teaching and interpreting. She migrated to Australia in 1973. Before coming to Australia she studied at The Taiwan World College of Journalism, and also worked as a presenter at Taiwan Television (TTV)
Outside journalism, Phoebe has worked as a court interpreter, Mandarin language teacher and has been active in community work. Phoebe is currently Chairman of the Chinese Language Education Council NSW Inc. Councillor of Art Gallery Society NSW,Trustee & Committee member of Australian Chinese Charity Foundation and Committee Member Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce Australia. She joined SBS in 1994. Phoebe is married with four children.
