WHO WE ARE  AUF DEUTSCH 

CHRISTIAN FROELICHER

Christian joined the German language group in 1994. The Swiss-born broadcaster worked for the Swiss Radio Network (Radio DRS) in Berne and Zurich before moving to Australia. He holds a BA (Hons) in History, Journalism and Political Science from the Universities of Berne and Geneva and an MA (Hons) in Australian Studies and Political Science from the University of Melbourne.

Christian speaks five languages and loves to travel.

ADRIAN PLITZCO

Adrian joined SBS in 2001. Having made a career as an art consultant in Zurich his direction changed towards journalism on his move to Australia. Since then he worked as a foreign correspondent for several German and Swiss magazines and newspapers. He is also an author, his books are published in Germany.


PAMELA RAULEDER

Pamela joined SBS Radio in 2004. The southern German journalist who loves to travel the world holds a Master in Applied Cultural Studies from the University of L�neburg, and Masters in Communications from RMIT University in Melbourne. During her studies in Germany, Pamela worked for newspaper, radio, and a magazine. In Australia, she has worked in communication roles within the arts and tertiary education sectors.

OLIVER HEUTHE

Oliver moved to Australia in 2002 and joined the SBS German language team in 2007. After having travelled the continent for a year, the Lusatian started his education in journalism and media. Since then he has completed a Diploma of Broadcasting and graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Media Studies. Before his time at SBS he has worked on a number of television broadcasts, and as an organiser of music festivals.

Oliver also teaches German and is passionate about politics and history.

PATRICK WAUTHIER

Patrick moved to Australia in 2003 and joined the SBS German language team in 2007. Originally from Bavaria, Patrick decided to join one half of his family in Australia to study Media and Journalism at La Trobe University and went on to a Master in International Relations (politics) at Monash University Melbourne. Patrick has worked as a sound engineer for live music and television both in Germany and Australia. He likes to travel extensively and enjoys photography.

KATHLEEN WACHTER

Kathleen has been with the German team since 2007. Originally from Bielefeld, she made Berlin her home during her studies of Applied Cultural Studies in Potsdam. Her strong interest for arts and culture eventually brought her to Melbourne. In the past, Kathleen worked for a German Music TV channel and various magazines and was involved with the production of a few short films. Currently, she divides her work time between being a Producer at SBS and Cultural Officer for the Goethe-Institut Australien.

URSULA SCHAPPI

Ursula joined SBS Radio in the late 1970s. She produces the weekly Swiss segment and helps compile the Austrian part of the program and the regular sports Round-Up.

Over recent years, Ursula has specialised in alternative dispute resolution.


FLORIAN MESSNER

Florian is a graduate of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna and of the University of Vienna. He joined the German language group at SBS in 1991. Florian produces and presents the Kulturchronik segment.

Florian was head of Performing Arts at Deakin University in Victoria


TRUDI LATOUR

Trudi Latour has been with the German language program at SBS as a producer since 1998. She has studied Literature, Linguistics and Philosophy in Germany, and later on Communications at the University of Technology Sydney, majoring in Film and Writing. She is also a certified NAATI level III interpreter and translator since 1987. Trudi has been working as a freelancer in the Film and Television industry of Australia since 1987, starting on feature films and TV dramas, and later specialised in the documentary field. Her latest major film project is Yellow Cake, where she worked as Line Producer for the Australian segment of this international documentary on uranium mining, hitting the cinema and TV screens in Germany in 2009.
