Paula Coghlan : 2.9.2006

RIDING FATE

I am a part of all that I have met.....said the poet Byron…

The lessons of life come in many forms and so are the incarnations of courage. There are people who touch the lives of others .
There are people , singled out for a different journey.
There are those who carry a heavier burden but who are the light bearers. There are those whose passion overrides all the obstacles , when the passion is sport at the highest level and obstacles are disabilities. Every day, every match , every victory and defeat , become life affirming statements.

Paula Coghlan had a carefree life , played a number of sports and enjoyed partying . Then tragedy struck, several times. She rose to the challenge. Her first task was to get on with life. Then she took up sport again and became a champion. She representated Australia as the captain of the Australian Wheel chair basketball and as the Captain of the Women Paralympians in Athens in 2004.

To-day, Paula Coghlan is a business woman and a mentor for other athletes.
