(Some) German industries are among the leading developers of energy efficient technologies. But are these technologies finding customers? Oliver Heuthe spoke to industry expert Jan Benjamin Spitzley about efficiency, the economic crisis and the future. Spitzley works for the German company Eclareon GmbH, and is responsible for the promotion of German technology exports.

Energy efficient building: 7.10.2009
The idea has long been turned into a number of legal standards in Europe – but in Australia, energy efficient building is only just getting onto the agenda. A recent conference in Melbourne aimed to continue that process. One of the guests was the German government’s commissioner for energy and energy efficiency in the building industry, Dr. Olaf Boettcher. Surveying the state of Australian building and insulation standards, Boettcher finds what experts describe as “shed climate” in a majority of living quarters. Oliver Heuthe spoke to Boettcher about materials of the future, micro climate, and whether the German legislative is acting as decisively as it should on the issue, itself.
