Professor Michel Thibier after a long and illustrious career in Research and at University decided to take the last challenge and the position of Scientific Counsellor at the French Embassy.
His responsibilities involved networks of exchange between France and Australia, International Conferences and continuing the cooperation between France and Australia through a myriad of projects.

President of AFAS an organisation which is the very select club of Scientists and researchers who have worked in France and in Australia and who organise throughout the year, a number of symposia , conferences and International visitors .
Peter Tollé was one of the organisers of the conference on water in Australia , in 2008.

French-qualified architect Franck Minnaert presents his exhibition Transclimatic or how climate change drives us to address new objectives: explore new places, set new design strategies, use new techniques or develop new technologies via a multi‐disciplinary design exhibition. It showcases selected works of emerging or established artists, design practices and architects worldwide. Franck Minnaert is also a lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney
Transclimatic is part of Sydney Design 09’ and runs until 16 August.

French astronaut Jean-Loup Chretien : 3.7.2009

French astronaut Jean-Loup Chretien was the first person from Western Europe to go into space, aboard a Soviet flight to the Salyut 7 space station in June 1982. Chrétien flew a second Soviet mission to space station Mir in 1988 and then returned to Mir as a U.S.-trained astronaut aboard the space shuttle in 1997 He was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union (on July 2, 1982).
He has just published a book “Reves d’Etoiles” that tries to answer questions children and adults may have about being a spationaut and what it is like to live out there.

A team of 7 ultralight plane Belgian pilots present their Earth Challenge. Among them, there are high profile Belgian TV presenter Michel de Maegd, Jean Penninckx and Olivier Stulemeijer who speak about their incredible challenge to save our planet: They will try to fly from Sydney to Brussels to raise awareness on Global Warming and to encourage everyone to become a green citizen by doing the right thing to preserve the planet.
