TASTES TO REMEMBER-DEMENTIA, health segment: 8.10.2009
Groups of Chinese, Somali, Croatian, Maltese and Assyrian men and women are sitting in groups looking through colourful pamphlets about dementia. They are assisted by translators in an effort to learn about the disease, and more importantly about the support services available to them. It is one of many events run by a partnership of organisations aimed at raising awareness in migrant communities about dementia. Alzheimer's AUSTRALIA community educator ANDREW ITALIA says that for some migrant communities dementia can be a shameful illness....
