The Australians are attracted by uranium in the Czech Republic: 30.5.2008
The Czech state has been blocking Australian attempts to mine uranium in the Czech Republic. It says it is against the Czech raw material policies. Most of the villages in the mining area together with environmentalists also disagree. However, the Australian company Uran Limited would like to explore the possibly rich sites anyway, no matter how much uranium Australia has itself. The prices of uranium have been significantly rising recently as uranium would be largely needed in the growing nuclear power plants. The Managing Director of Uran Limited Kate Hobbs, the spokesman of the Department of Environment Jakub Kaspar and the environmentalist Edvard Sequens from Calla talked to Pavla Hulova.
