WHAT'S HAPPENING?  traduci in italiano

Italian Opera Foundation Australia

After eleven successful years of dedication to help new Australian opera talents, the Italian Opera Award Committee has decided to take an historic step forward and create the Italian Opera Foundation Australia. Chairman Nick Scali says the award assigned yearly by the Foundation will be one of the six prestigious awards offered by Opera Foundation Australia. It will allow the winner, a talented young Australian opera singer, to undertake a period of intensive operatic study in Italy with recognised and renowned opera 'maestri'. It also offers the opportunity to study the Italian language. In this special report by Domenico Gentile Chairman Nick Scali unveils his dream, while baritone Jason Barry-Smith and tenor Aldo di Toro tell their story and what it means to win this prestigious award. Opera critic Alfredo Bovier tells of the hard work required to succeed, while music professor Anzela Latteri outlines the improvements made when hard work and study are applied with diligence.
