Piet van Oossanen has upset the Australian sailing world, by stating that he and not Ben Lexcen, designed the winged keel of the Australia II. Australia II won the Americas Cup with the wingend keel in 1983. Yvon Davis asked Piet van Oossanen about the keel and when he first started working with the Australian boatdesigners on the Australia II:
